Diamond trader and alleged fraudster Louis Liebenberg must appear in court

JOHANNESBURG – Controversial diamond trader and alleged fraudster Louis Liebenberg will appear in the Bronkhorstspruit court on Thursday morning.

Liebenberg, along with eight others, including his wife Dezzi, was arrested last week on charges of racketeering, fraud and money laundering.

He is commonly known as open about his support for former president Jacob Zumawith whom he has close ties.

From a diamond trader, who is not afraid to side with Zuma, to an alleged swindler: that is the new outfit that Liebenberg will wear when he appears before the Bronkhorstspruit court together with eight others.

He, together with his co-defendant, is accused of committing a large-scale investment scam in which thousands of people were allegedly defrauded into investing $4 billion in a diamond project.

The alleged scam was carried out through two companies owned by Liebenberg, Tariomix and Forever Zircon.

His co-defendants include Dezzi, his former lawyer, personal assistant, as well as directors and employees of the companies in question.

During his first performance last week Liebenberg waived his bail.
