Man sentenced to nearly 20 years for federal drug crime

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A South Charleston man was sentenced Wednesday to nearly 20 years in prison for a federal drug crime, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Brandon Christopher Solomon, 30, was sentenced to 19 years and seven months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The incident happened early last December in Charleston’s Kanawha City neighborhood.

According to the release, Solomon sold approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine and 10 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant.

“The Court found that Solomon had participated in at least sixteen drug transactions and possessed a firearm on multiple occasions in connection with those transactions,” the press release said. “In addition, on two occasions, Solomon made threats to shoot individuals in connection with these transactions.”

Investigators say Solomon has a lengthy criminal history, including two prior federal drug convictions. He also committed an armed robbery in 2014 while on supervised release as a result of previous federal convictions.
