Official PR soldier of the Ukrainian Border Service seen with Nazi patch

Following backlash over a PR photoshoot in which a Ukrainian soldier wore Nazi symbol patches on his equipment, the Ukrainian Border Guard deleted the offending post on social media on Thursday.

The October 31 Facebook album showed a soldier with the double SS bolts of the Schutzstaffel on his rifle. A patch on the soldier’s plate carrier depicted a Nazi-style Reichsadler eagle, with the Ukrainian heraldic trident replacing the Nazi swastika.

“There are two sides to each of us. We only show the darkness to the enemy,” said the post, which depicted soldiers with photoshopped demonic shadows.

The Facebook post was deleted Thursday after comments from social media users mocked the Border Patrol over an official post featuring Nazi imagery.

The same soldier also had pornographic content on his equipment, including a pink knife sheath with an image of a naked woman in Japanese anime art style.
